Can Rizzo in Grease be played by someone who is blonde? Hey. I have a lot of acting experience (I have been taking 3 years of acting lessons,) I am a mezzo soprano and I think I would fit the role of Rizzo REALLY well. I am a dirty blonde though and I have emerald green eyes, but I'm dying my hair blonder before school starts. On YouTube it seems all the Rizzo's in Grease are brunettes. Is it MANDATORY to be a brunette? I act with a professional theater company and they base it on talent mostly rather than looks, but this time I am auditioning for my school play (the first time EVER.) So I don't know if they are more biased since I don't think my drama teacher has as much experience as the director at the company (who is also my acting coach.)
Good luck xoxo.
God bless xoxo. | I think you should be ok because if they really want a brunette, you can wear a wig.
Also, everyone always thinks of Sandy as blonde, but on Broadway, Laura Osnes was Sandy and she is brunette, and did not wear a wig.
Like I said, you should be fine, you can always wear a wig, or you can be Sandy =)
Break a leg =) | What do you think of the first Few pages of my book? I am only 13, so idk how good it reeaaallly is!
You never know how much you love something until it is gone, even the simplest, most obvious things in the world. Take your arm, for example. Imagine living without it. This thought became a reality to Valerie, the most amazing girl in Jackson.
She was so different from everyone else in Jackson, a small suburban town outside of New York City. She had straight white-blonde hair that reached just below her shoulder. She looked good, even when she doubted herself. Everyone loved her, and looked up to her in such a way, she was almost a religious figure at Jackson Jr. High. She was the kind of girl you had to like, whether you’ve talked to her or not. This is what the regular Jackson girl thought of Valerie Bishop.
So many girls in Jackson looked up to Valerie, except for the girls who had actually spent their time getting to know her. Skylar, one of Valerie’s friends, thought she knew the most about Valerie than anyone else. Though Skylar spent most of her time auditioning for commercials, memorizing her lines, and drinking water to keep her voice clear, she still had time to spend with Valerie whether she wanted to or not. Valerie always needed to know everything about everybody. It was one of her annoying traits. Valerie felt as if she needed to know everybody’s secret, for whatever reason. You couldn’t keep anything from her.
After school, Valerie spent her time at soccer practice. There, she would meet up with her friend Danielle. She and Danielle were the best players on their middle school team, who both played mainly offence. Danielle wasn’t the smartest girl out there, but she was depending on a soccer scholarship to get her anywhere in life. She really was Valerie’s best friend, though Skylar thought she had that title in the bag.
Things were going great as seventh grade year ended. Valerie had the perfect boyfriend, Danielle had some time to rest from soccer, and Skylar had her very first commercial appearance. But something would happen tat summer that would change their lives forever.
But then, something happened that summer. Valerie and Dani were really bored of Skylar yacking on about her new commercial audition, so they decided to go outside and play soccer (they knew Skylar hated that sport).
So, they went downstairs, through the hallway, and into Valerie’s huge, perfectly watered lawn. Right next to that was a stoned swimming pool, where many of the three girl’s parties were held. There were palm trees surrounding the pool, and the water glistened against the rays of the sun that were pouring down upon Valerie’s backyard. Summer in Jackson was always great.
They played for a little while, using the wooden goal that Valerie’s dad had built. Valerie had told Danni that her dad kept all his tools in the shed, and that they were never to go in there. Obviously, he wasn’t that great of a builder, for there was a piece of wood that hung from the top of the goal. Sometimes when they would kick the ball into the goal, the ball would bounce off the piece of wood and back at us. But they didn’t mind. Anything to keep them away from Skylar.
“Valerie,” Danielle said, grabbing the soccer ball from the ground, and resting it against her hip. “I really have to go to the bathroom. I’ll be right back.”
“’Kay.” Valerie replied as Dani threw her the soccer ball so that she could continue to play.
Danielle left Valerie, a moment that both of them would be reluctant to forget.
Danielle came back outside, just to see Valerie on the ground. She was screaming, and to Danielle’s horror, Valerie’s arm was not attached to her shoulder. In fact, Dani couldn’t even find Valerie’s arm.
She instantly started bawling. She knew from that point on, both their lives were going to be different. She didn’t know what to do, for she didn’t have my phone with me. So Dani bent down next to Valerie, put her hands on her stomach, and cried. She was crying almost as hard as Valerie was.
Then, Skylar came through the door, and stepped outside. She saw Valerie, and instantly took out her phone called the ambulance.
So, that’s the story! Danielle never really wanted to ask Valerie what happened anyway.
Valerie doesn’t play soccer anymore. She stopped hanging out with Danielle, and Danielle stopped hanging out Skylar. As Valerie started fleeing away from Dani and Skylar, a domino affect occurred and their group split. She is okay now, but her arm is missing. Her boyfriend broke up her that summer, for reasons only Valerie and Skylar knew of.
Well, that’s the story about how Valerie came to be. She really isn’t the same anymore. She isn’t the most popular girl anymore either, and she doesn’t play soccer. Now, her role has gone to Danielle. | | At fuirst it is very dull buut it gets better. Good job! | How can i become an actress? i don't care about money, i don't care if i become famous, all i want is to act. i have done some plays in school, but i dont really like theatre.
i like teen drama, comedy, and film. alot of people used to tell me that i looked like dakota fanning when i was little, and i would go to watch movies with my mom and tell her that i wanted to do what she was doing. i feel like acting is what i need to do, and i should be working right now.
somehow i came upon john casablanca modeling and career center i took classes their last year and i still attend some classes their. the last time i was their for a photoshoot the makeup worker told me i looked like a doll and loved my facial features, the photographer and her both wanted to use me for a worldwide fashion magazine even though it was for women who were much older than i was, i am 14 years old. i was very disappointed to here the next morning which was the day of the photoshoot that they were afraid that my braces on my teeth would be a problem so they decided not to use me for the shoot..
since then i have thought that i will never be able to do anything as long as i have my braces on which dont come off until august 2009, this past summer i went to a casting call for all models and the highest leader/agent asked me as i showed her my portfolio if i remembered her and i could have sworn i had never seen her before but she remembered me the first time i auditioned for john casablancas then she said it was crazy that she had remembered me from a year ago when she had last seen me out of thousands of teens/guys/people from across the country and i couldnt remember her. after it was over she called out about 10 people, me being one of them who were chosen to attend a big convention in texas which is going on right now. i decided not to go as my mom couldn't afford it. so i am planning on going in june.
I am only 5'5 so i don't really see myself going far in modeling but for acting i have such a burning desire for it i can't even begin to explain.
I feel like time is going by too fast and I need to pursue it right now.
Is there any suggestions as to what i should do about this ?
I am sorry this is very long, I tend to ramble on about nothing, and this is probably pointless but oh well.
thank you to whoever responds. =]
as for me i am pale, i have shoulder length strawberry blonde hair, light freckles, about 105 pounds, and once again am 14 years old
| | Get involved in anything that has to do with acting, singing or dancing. Go audtition for plays OUTSIDE of school. You wont get anywhere if you just stay in the school, you need to take every opportunity and get yourself out there to be noticed. If you cant take the effort to help yourself out and put yourself out there, don't bother trying at all. Take some improvisational classes, you'll definitely need to. | Ahh, I need help helping my friend get through this?!? Well, my friend auditioned for Beauty and the Beast. And she wanted to be Belle. But anyway, there were two days of the auditions. So they first day, I'll admit she was good, but I'd heard her sing and I know she could do better. The second day, I didn't go. But she was so devoted to this and she emailed the director telling him she was coming again because she felt she didn't do her best.
I didn't go, but I heard she was AMAZING that time around. She told me that the director complimented her and also told her that in last years play, he was incredibly impressed by her performance in last years musical.
I think that was his way of apologizing to her about how he gave her such a small role when she was an amazing actress.
Anyway, we all got our hopes up and probably made her get her hopes up. We all said she looked liked Belle, sounded like Belle, etc.
She got the part of "Silly Girl #2". I've looked through the script and there's barely anything for her. Of course she'll do her best and be amazing, but I think she deserved just a LITTLE better part. And she is one of the oldest in the cast.
Anyway, my other friend, (and HER best friend) got Belle. She's amazing at singing, but has blonde hair and her acting just doesn't fit the character. And this is her first time ever being in the middle school musical.
I know I'm not the director or anything, but I just feel bad. And I don't know what to say to her to make her feel better, cause she's really down. She got herself a little too devoted to this role. | I believe that in the world of theater, it's dog eat dog. Things aren't going to get any nicer. She might as well get used to the pressure and the rejections if she wants to make this a career. At least she got a part and a lot of compliments. It may serve her later on.
All you can do is say, "Better luck next time", or "You were robbed!"
As for the boy who doesn't have to audition, this is obviously a school where you cannot count on fairness. But I don't think it's going to get better in the theatrical profession. | Let's Take You Back? 17? 1966:

Chapter 1
An Anchor: a central cohesive source of support and stability used to fix firm and hold in place. Every relationship whether simply of two friends, a boyfriend and girlfriend or that of a married couple will have an anchor. In some cases it’s the male, in others the female but a relationship will always have that one person who is willing to go to any length to make sure that nothing goes wrong and that it just works.
Some say that love is a light in which the pathway is illuminated and we see the real shapes and emotions that we try ever so hard to convey. Love is not easy. Love cannot be selfish. However, we must not get carried away with Love. For however magic love can be, we have to remember that magic….is sometimes just an illusion.
Landon truly felt like he was in love. 9 months had passed now since he first met Jessica and he had fallen at first sight. Such a cliché he always thought to himself, but it never really mattered.
Jessica was perfect in everyway. A breathtaking gaze of divine beauty both inside and out, who radiated everything that Landon held close to his heart. He truly adored her. She remained his first thought in the morning and his last quiet contemplation before he drifted off into a deep, dream-rich sleep.
Landon couldn’t fault her. Her beauty was beyond that of anything he’d ever seen. Her faultless tanned skin, light brown hair, with a flash of blonde that he teased her about saying she got it done on purpose. Hauntingly-deep brown eyes that he found himself getting lost for hours in, almost like a pathway to her soul. Her smile was what he adored most. Her smile reminded him of every happy memory they had together. How he loved making her smile.
Landon was well built, with smooth complexion and tan skin and had wild oceanic blue eyes. His blonde hair always looked messy and wind-swept, but that was the way he liked it. He never really cared for how people thought of him, he figured that if they knew him, they would take him for who he is, and not someone they thought he might be. He too loved to smile and never hesitated in doing so, two years of wearing braces had taught him that he had worked for each moment that he could feel great and just smile.
Chapter 2- In the beginning…
If you have it, you don't need to have anything else, and if you don't have it, it doesn't matter much what else you have and Landon thought he truly had it.
A few months into his final school year, the auditions for the school drama production we’re announced. He’d tried a few times before, but always lost out to his best-friend Max. Max was a smooth talker who never lacked confidence and always seemed to shine in-and-around audition time. Landon had always been in Max’s shadow, but this time, things were about to change.
After having exhausted a good few hours on YouTube, studying Hugh Jackman’s faultless performance as Curley, Landon was ready to give it a shot. Standing inside the audition room, his heart was beating so fast that he felt like it would explode from his chest at any minute. A single bead of sweat balanced delicately along his eyebrow as he nervously waited for his turn. | | I think you have potential, definitely keep up the writing. | Do you like the preface of my book? I am only 13, so be aware there may be a few mistakes...Chapter One
Jackson, a small suburban town outside of New York City, was the most dangerous jungle any biologist would ever dare venture into. Of course, Jackson was not a jungle, but for some, it did seem that way. You know that girl; the girl who wants to be the best wherever she goes. Well, that girl would never survive in Jackson. Jackson is filled with rich, snotty, conceited, Dolce and Gabbana-wearing girls. And those were only the commoners of Jackson. Your basic upper-class girl would be holding a Hermes bag in one hand, Prada sunglasses, and an Haute Couture dress. Next to her, would be her daughter wearing a Burberry dress and a Tiffany’s necklace that was way too long for a four year old.
Jackson Jr. High, however, was filled with Juicy Couture wearing blondes. They were still able to wear jeans to school without it looking cheap. The queen of Jackson Jr. High was Valerie.
Valerie. She was perfect in every way. Her white-blonde hair reached a few inches below her shoulder. She looked good, even when she doubted herself. Everyone loved her, and looked up to her in such a way, she was almost a religious figure at Jackson Jr. High. She was the kind of girl you had to like, whether you’ve talked to her or not.
Everybody wanted to be Valerie’s friend. Few fulfilled this wish, though many tried. Valerie’s best friends were Danielle, a spunky, down to earth, soccer playing brunette, and Skylar. Skylar had always wanted to be an actress. She had been in fifteen local plays, and starred in every school play. Though Skylar spent most of her time auditioning for commercials, memorizing her lines, and drinking water to keep her voice clear, she still had time to spend with Valerie.
Danielle and Skylar were the ones who knew Valerie’s secrets, even the juiciest ones that were going to come back to haunt them.
Valerie spent a lot of her time at soccer practice. There, she would meet up with Danielle. She and Danielle were the best players on their middle school team, who both played mainly offence. Danielle wasn’t the smartest girl out there, but she was depending on a soccer scholarship to get her somewhere in life. She really was Valerie’s best friend, though Skylar thought she had that title in the bag.
Things were going great as seventh grade year ended. Valerie had the perfect boyfriend, Danielle had some time to rest from soccer, and Skylar had her very first commercial appearance.
But something happened that summer. It was one of the hottest summers in Jackson, and after going to the local pool, Danielle, Valerie, and Skylar were ready to go to Valerie’s house and relax.
After an eight minute car ride in Valerie’s mom’s black Lexus (it still had that new car smell) the three girls rushed up to Valerie’s bedroom. There were school pictures, magazine covers and cutouts, stickers, and Juicy Couture bags pinned up on Valerie’s bedroom walls. They dried off, and then started trying on Valerie’s clothes that she had gotten at the mall the other day. Skylar’s phone had rang five times while she picked out a pair of jeans from Valerie’s walk in closet that was so full, you could hardly take a shirt from the closet without everything else falling down.
“Skylar!” Valerie said, opening the door to her closet a few inches. “Your phone is ringing!”
Skylar screamed. “Hey! I just picked out a pair of jeans.” She held out a pair of distressed MEKs. “You like?” Skylar giggled, and started to take off her boot-cut Luckys.
Valerie immediately slammed her closet door shut. She did not need to see Skylar change her jeans. Valerie instead, walked over to Skylar’s pink Razor that was resting on the white carpet by Valerie’s bed. She picked it up, and read Skylar’s text message.
Hey Skylar. It’s George. Just wanted to let you know that I found a commercial for you to audition for. It is a Verizon Wireless commercial. You will be auditioning for the part of Hailey, a preppy girl who wants the coolest new phone. I will give you the script next time I see you, so be prepared to memorize! Memorize! Memorize!
Danielle came form behind Valerie, holding a tube of Prada mascara. “What are you doing with Skylar’s phone?” The rays of light that came through the window grasped Dani’s wet hair, making it shine.
Valerie almost threw the phone in surprise, but instead dropped it back onto the floor. “Oh, nothing.” She sat down on her bed, and set one of her pillows on her lap.
Danielle shrugged. “Whatevs.” She then went back to the bathroom and continued putting on mascara.
The door to the closet swung open, and Skylar came out. “Why was my phone ringing, again?” She walked over to Valerie’s bed, and sat down next to Valerie.
After yawning for a few seconds, Valerie answered, and rested her head on Skylar’s shoulder. “George texted you.”
Instantly, Skylar sprang up from the bed. “George? Where’s my phone?” She took a few steps forward in search of her phone. | | Wow, I thought that was really good! I think you have talent in writing..if you ever write more please some how let me know! Valerie was so different from everyone else in Jackson, a small suburban town outside of New York City. Valerie was just the right height.
