Why is prostitution legal in the Netherlands but illegal in the USA?
In the Netherlands women of 16+ can prostitute themselves and males of 16+ can buy prostitutes and all 16-year olds can buy pornography.

16-year olds can model for porn (Including hardcore) in the Netherlands too.

Why is it 18 in the so called land of the free?
I agree with Alfred, your question is set merely to evoke reaction and is not even grounded on facts.

You have to be 18 to be a prostitute and engage in porn (yes including hardcore). in the Netherlands, so you are incorrect in your assumptions

Why is it legal in the Netherlands, because taking a pragmatic approach then these two industries are always going to be "sought by customers" and therefore you have two choices. 1. to make it illegal, sweep it under the carpet and pretend it doesn't happen, or to 2. make it legal, regulate it and reduce traffiking, create a clean & safe environment etc for the persons who choose (yes choose) to engage in the industry

I am also very reluctant to bother spending the time to explain further as it is clear you are not interested

Im studying pornography, (its long) anybody wanna correct me or tell me your opinions?
Im investigating pornography for my psychology studies and im a bit disappointed about what i found. I found that porn has done incredible damages to mostly women, guys, worst of all families.
I watch porn myself and find it fun, but there's a dark level in porn where i think should be banned.

I spoke to people who loved it and people who hate it and here's what i found:

About 70% of women under the age of 18 loves it.
Only 60% over 18 loves it and are more focused with "reality" as they say.

Anyway, this kind of bothers me that guys under the age of 18 are watching porn and experimenting.Kids should not be experimenting around that age as it leads to STDs,Pregnancy, Addiction, and not to mention it affects education too.

How many of ya'll know have seen middle school girls imitating pornography and taking nude pics?
I found alot of girls like these. I have a 13 year old sister who knows girls that do this and it kinda disturbs me. Any thoughts?

I also found that pornography includes scenes of Rape,Torture, & Abuse. I saw a link of one of a guy's facebook and the porn is hardcore. It showed a girl in chains and a guy raping her. KIDS are watching this stuff. Its so easy to access and anybody could watch it.

I think this kind of porn should be banned. Dont you think?

The majority of guys will say porn is normal, but being a fan of porn myself, i find myself disagreeing to men & even women that porn is healthy.

Porn lead to lack of self confidence in women. I surveyed girls in my college and everyone i knew.
30% said its okay & its not causing problems.
15% say they dont care about it and only watch it occasionally.
40% said they had insecurities and had been pressured into doing "it" one way to another because of their partner.
And the rest is saying it all depends.

Now, i surveyed guys too.
60% said its healthy.
10% said it became a problem
5% said they had cheated in some way because of it.
and the rest said they had become disintrest in their partner.

I think pornography is art. I just think it became too overboard. I started watching hardcore porn & find that they're actually abusing women in these.

One guy shoved a dick in a girls mouth and kept forcing it in. The women is showed to be gagging. The man kept shoving it. I know this is fake , but this kind of porn actually lead guys thinking they could do this and some dont think so but want to try it.

This kind of porn makes men think they can do this, and its disturbing. I think porn is okay, but this is just plain disturbing. This is abuse. Any guy or girl dreaming to be in this kind of torment is wrong. The women there is being showed as sex slaves and would do anything for a guy.

Now relationship these days, dont lie. Im speaking to ALL men out there. Did you ever wish your gf had big boobs? OR told your gf to get implants?

Now there is no innocance anymore, and I think mainly do to porn. From a girls perspective, guys see all this wild stuff and what you to try it. Also they expect all girls to fit this porn image that they see in magazines. Like unreal body shapes, and porn stars that have had laser hair removal down there. You cannot just be a nice girl. They have these expectations, seen these super sexed up girls and need that to get turned on.

Well 80% of the guys i surveyed said so.

This is the guys thinking that women is not beautiful by heart but by apearance.
No porn is not healthy. Porn makes you want more (my opinion no disrespect feel free 2 disagree)
i found porn hurts women more than men. Women (not all) are being forced to accept this as normal and healthy. I also found men who are in rehab for this kind of addiction.

Anyway, this is what i found in the last 7 months i studied pornography. Im not 100% sure and would like to hear from you guys. All of the above i wrote are not intended to disrespect anybody, it is only of what i found and my opinion. Thanks, Any thoughts?
Alexa, you and thousands like you have done studies like this for whatever reason. There have been countless exposés on investigative reporting shows and the like. You haven't yet skimmed the surface of the porn industry. There is porn out there that is unimaginable to you. How about the "snuff" films, where people are murdered during sex to be turned on.

Whatever your discoveries are, you cannot impact the multi-billion dollar porn industry. Money talks. Sex sells.

Watching porn is normal, it's today's society where anyone who has a computer and internet can access and watch it. Getting pregnant and std's and unexpected birth, that's all normal for today's society which cannot be control. It's how the teenagers were raised.
Anyone know about Feminist Pornography?
Does anyone know where I can find some free feminist porn? Preferably lesbian based, but I'm currently doing research about the difference between generic hardcore and lesbian porn that directed by females and feminist porn.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, as well as personal experience comments!
Thanks!
I don't know if feminist porn exists but there is certainly a lot of agressive lesbian porn out there made for lesbians (fisting up against the wall and all that). So your report shouldn't cast male oriented porn as abusive and female oriented porn as all nicey nice if that's what you were thinking!
Is Mitt hiding something in his closet?
Romney criticized for hotel pornography By GLEN JOHNSON, Associated Press Writer
Thu Jul 5, 5:01 PM ET

BOSTON - Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney, who rails against the "cesspool" of pornography, is being criticized by social conservatives who argue that he should have tried to halt hardcore hotel movie offerings during his near-decade on the Marriott board.

Two anti-pornography crusaders, as well as two conservative activists of the type Romney is courting, say the distribution of such graphic adult movies runs counter to the family image cultivated by Romney, the Marriotts and their shared Mormon faith.
"Marriott is a major pornographer. And even though he may have fought it, everyone on that board is a hypocrite for presenting themselves as family values when their hotels offer 70 different types of hardcore pornography," said Phil Burress, president of Citizens for Community Values, an anti-pornography group based on Ohio.
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, a leading conservative group in Washington, said: "They have to assume some responsibility. It's their hotels, it's their television sets."

During a recent Associated Press interview, Romney said he did not recall pornography coming up for discussion while he was on the Marriott board from 1992 to 2001. Despite being chairman of the board's audit committee, he also said he was unaware of how much revenue pornography may have generated for the hotel chain.

Romney said his current concern is not about pornography per se, but guyren unwittingly stumbling upon it on the Internet or television.

"I am not pursuing an effort to try and stop adults from being able to acquire or see things that I find objectionable; that's their right. But I do vehemently oppose practices or business procedures that will allow guys to be exposed to obscenity," the former Massachusetts governor said.

Pornography is a lucrative business for various hotel chains. Estimates vary widely, up to $500 million annually industrywide by one opponent, John Harmer, who served as California's lieutenant governor under Ronald Reagan.

Marriott and other major hoteliers say they offer pay-per-view pornography because their customers demand it and entertainment service contracts require it to underwrite first-run movies and free television.

"It certainly would have been wrong to impose his own personal beliefs if they were contrary to the financial interests of the company," Marriott spokesman Roger Conner said of Romney.

Marriott had a contract with On Command Corp. for its television and movie services during Romney's board tenure. Conner said the contract was signed in 1991 — the year before Romney joined the board. He served until 2001 and was paid $25,000 annually, plus stock.

When Romney left to take over the 2002 Winter Olympics, a Marriott statement described him as an "active, hands-on director."

Marriott refused to say if its contract with On Command was ever discussed or voted upon by the board, saying the directors' votes and meeting minutes are proprietary.

Marriott now contracts with LodgeNet Entertainment Corp., which bought On Command last year.

Gary Glenn, president of American Family Association of Michigan, a conservative group, said: "The Marriott Corporation may be tap dancing around this subject, but a candidate for president should not be able to."

Marriott International has more than 500,000 hotel rooms and annual revenues exceeding $10 billion. While the Marriott name is on more than 2,800 buildings, the corporation owns only about a dozen hotels. The rest are owned by franchises, lessening corporate control over their activities.

Romney, 60, has close links to the corporation, which opened its first hotel in 1957. Not only did he serve on its board of directors, but his given first name — "Willard" — is in honor of the hotel chain's founder, J. Willard Marriott. Marriott and Romney's father, former Michigan Gov. George Romney, were friends and rose through industry together.

In June 2000, J.W. "Bill" Marriott Jr., the son of Marriott's founder, defended the distribution of pornographic movies, saying they were inseparable from the rest of the chain's TV offerings.

"The in-room entertainment operators who provide our systems rely upon a certain volume of movie types in order to be economically viable," Bill Marriott wrote to Bill Johnson, executive director of the Michigan-based American Decency Association. "If we were to eliminate the 'R' and non-rated offerings, the systems would not be economic."

No all hotel chains have the same policy. Omni Hotels announced in late 1999 it would no longer offer pay-per-view movies in its rooms. Ritz-Carlton, the hotel name synonymous with luxury, also does not offer in-room pornography — even though it is owned by Marriott International.

Daniel Weiss, media analyst for James Dobson's "Focus on the Family," said this week in a radio broadcast to Focus members: "If (Romney) made money off pornography in the past, is he going to turn a blind eye to it if he's president? Because as chief executive of the nation, it's his responsibility to make sure our nation's obscenity laws are efficiently and vigorously enforced."

Romney linked the prevalence of pornography to the Virginia Tech shooting spree that left 33 dead.

"Pornography and violence poison our music and movies and TV and video games," Romney said May 5 during a commencement address at Regent University, the evangelical Christian school run by Christian Coalition founder Pat Robertson.

"The Virginia Tech shooter, like the Columbine shooters before him, had drunk from this cesspool."
Romney likes to get his freak on.
Why people say okay to porn in general (soft and hardcore)?
Pornography materials brainwash and destroy the human minds, the society, the faith and eventually the nation. Some says that's okay, nothing wrong with that, blah blah blah. The people who said that are ignorant and usually the ones who lack of moral values. These kind of people might have seen them many times and that's why they approve those things. They may be addicted to them and they do not want other people to interfere with their stuffs especially the government. They will say 'hey, why government has to interfere with the porn business, it's a free country, we have our rights to this things and mind your own business!" Yeah right, if there is no rules and laws made by government, there will be no nation and no freedom and especially there will be no you. Everything will be in chaos. There is no law and order. The nation will not exist and the society will be destroyed in a blink of an eye. That's why there is Bible, 10 commandments, and government laws. What do you think?
first i must say that im addicted to them myself but i agree with you. too many people say its ok but its not. im trying to cut down on my Habit and i hope i can. but its not right and i think the government should get rid of it
Where Can I find this video?
So I want to find the pornography video with Max Hardcore and Mya Mason(The one where she starts to fight back). I can't seem to find it anywhere and im assuming it's probably on some site somewhere and available for free. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
it's a hideous scene according to sources - you're probably about 13 so go ask your mommy to come read this question and help you out, scooter.

Why isn't porn illegal?
I recently watched a documentary about how pornography is bascially hate speech. I haven't watched much of it, but this slideshow argues that MAINSTREAM (not hardcore or fetish-oriented) porn calls women demeaning names and emphasizes on their pain, risk, or exploitation with multiple sex partners, etc.
The Supreme Court has ruled that free speech does not cover art with "no redeeming social value," so why is it that it's one of the biggest industries in the world? How can we stop it?
Don't buy it or download it.

It's like any other industry - if they stop making money, they will stop making porn.
Why are some Republicans advocating that the government waste money on prosecuting x-rated businesses?
www.politico.com/news/stories/041…

Apparently, there are some Republicans who are attacking Attorney General Eric Holder for one of the few good things he has done since taking office. Specifically, his decision to shut down the "obscenity" prosecution task force at the DOJ.

42 Senators (from both parties) recently sent a letter to Holder asking for more "obscenity" prosecutions. It is no wonder that our country is in such bad fiscal shape when we have 42 Senators who favor frivolous prosecutions that the government can't win and of activities that are voluntary and take place within the privacy of one's own home.

I don't see any good reason for the social conservatives to care about this issue. If they don't like the products produced by the adult entertainment industry or the content on some Internet web sites, they are perfectly free not to purchase those products or visit those web sites. Anybody who wants to look at adult content has to deliberately seek it out. Nobody forces them to look at it. Those who wish to prosecute the producers of this form of entertainment would have to greatly weaken the protections for free speech to be able to do so (because these days, just about anything is compatible with "contemporary community standards"). If the religious organizations were to ever win a victory against pornography in coalition with the far-left hardcore man-hating feminists, their victory would be short-lived as it would weaken free speech protections so much that a "hate speech" law prohibiting them from preaching their own religious views (which some of the more extreme "gay rights" organizations are already pushing for and have obtained in foreign countries with less regard for free speech).

Further, the claims about how x-rated entertainment leads to increases in violence or an increased interest in actually doing the activities in real life are false. All of the best evidence now shows that the actual effect of these adult products is to reduce the attractiveness of real-life women to men who view these products and thereby reduce the rate of rape and the rate of illegal prostitution.

How is this effort any different (other than the fact that it hasn't been successful yet) from the effort by special interest groups to outlaw working toilets and to force everybody to use ugly light bulbs? In a free society, the government does not have any right to tell people what kind of products they can buy or sell on the free market. The fact that it is impossible for the government to convict producers of adult entertainment products of "obscenity" any longer means that it is certainly government waste to prosecute these silly cases. At a time when the national debt is 100% of GDP and the budget deficit is nearly as large as all federal tax revenues, it is just inexcusable for anybody to be advocating that the government waste money on frivolous prosecutions. This is just more evidence that the current Congress is not serious about taking action to avoid the coming fiscal crisis and that the discredited Bush-era big government conservatism is alive and well.

Republicans should remember that they got elected in 2010 because they focused on economic issues rather than social issues (in fact, both Sharon Angle and Christine O'Donnell largely lost because they focused too much on social issues). The push to defund Planned Parenthood did not bother me because I don't think people should be forced to fund organizations that they don't agree with. Things like Newt Gingrich claiming that Obama should be impeached for refusing to defend an unconstitutional law (the so-called "Defense" of Marriage Act, which violates the full faith and credit clause of the Constitution) or these attacks on the Attorney General for shutting down a task force that engaged in frivolous prosecutions do bother me and show that too many in the GOP are more concerned with promoting a cultural agenda even at the expense of worsening our nation's fiscal crisis. If the Republicans prove themselves to be too extreme on social issues, they will be defeated because socially moderate and fiscally conservative voters will not bother to vote for them.
It won't go far. They are small businesses with a lobby. Many politicians frequent (or support) their establishements.
