| Why do a lot of Americans think soccer is a gay sport for wusses? I've been told that by countless people. | Some Americans are ignorant and what they don't know scares them. Soccer, Football, Calcio is a much more athletic sport than American Football or Baseball. Basketball might be up there with soccer though on athletic ability. I think the current generation will change things. They are growing up with soccer in school & MLS teams. When they are the sportscasters & journalists soccer will no longer be dissed. It is the only sport I watch faithfully & I could not be more American! |

| Tennis is probably considered a gay / sissy sport because it doesn't involve rough play / physical contact / a team of dirty, sweaty men slapping each other in the bum. :D Although, this is the first time I have heard that it IS considered a gay / sissy sport. In my opinion, "refined" would be a better term. It is a sport that requires finesse more than brute strength. If your goal is to convince people to play tennis with you, why don't you ask them to try it once, and if they don't like it, then they never have to play with you again. From my experience, most people do realize that it is a fun sport and can be as much of a challenge as the "main 3" (if not moreso!). You will find someone who will get hooked! |
